Latest Book: Big Girl Pill
Where did the inspiration for the book come from?
It's loosely pulled from a fanfic I wrote years ago. I like the premise of best friends to lovers to strangers and back to friends then lovers again
Why was the story so important to you?
I think it was my first book that was pure romance. I also fell in love with Nina's coming out story. I don't just mean as queer. I mean coming out as her own person as well. I also really dig writing about family dynamics.
Tell us about the characters
Nina Sterling is a work in progress. She's trying to find out who she is and come into her own. Maya Davis is self aware, smart but she's on a fools errand in trying to get over her best friend in the most painful way possible. I think Nina has the most dramatic journey but Maya is my favorite.
As a writer...
What is your favourite word?
Readers would tell you...'fuck'
How do you deal with bad reader reviews?
At first they hurt, now they are a source of entertainment simply because I get some strange ones. Otherwise its all subjective one persons treasure another person's trash.
What was your favourite book as a child?
I loved reading about ghosts, witches and werewolves.
For new readers what book should they read first?
I'd tell them to start with Big Girl Pill and work their way backward to see the growth and to enjoy a range of characters.
What are you reading now?
I'm starting the new book by EJ Noyes, Reaping the Benefits
As a person...
What is the favourite thing you own?
My Xbox and PS4
What annoys you?
People who ask too many questions. Just kidding. People who don't do what they say they will.
What is the first thing you notice about a person?
What did you want to be before you grew up?
What superhero power would you want to possess?
All of them.
